GUEST LUNAR ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY
[Home!]
Last updated: 14 February 2006

Many ETX users have sent examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

I've attached a couple of images from my last observing session. These are Stacked images taken with a Toucam 840k last week through my ETX-90 ec. I set it up on my home made equatorial wedge. The first shot is of the crater Copernicus and is a stack of 458 frames at 640 x 480 pixels. The second shot is of Plato and is a stack of 950 frames. I used for both a 2x Apo Barlow lens and an IR filter. An interesting feature of the image of Plato is what appears to be craterlets just visible on Plato's floor, no small feat for a 90mm scope!

Here is my first attempt at astrophotography on my etx 70 with 25mm eyepiece and 3x Barlow. Sony Cybershot DSC P120 hand held at the eyepiece on a very cold night. Some zoom applied to fill the picture and contrast and brightness altered with HP photosmart software. If good enough, put it on the site.
