The Meade ad in the April 2009 issue of Astronomy magazine promotes the
ETX-LS for $ 1,299. One of the features listed for the ETX-LS is ACF
optics.  Why do you say that the ACF optics comes in a different version
that costs an additional $200?  The ad does not say that.
Mike here: That ad was probably prepared a few months ago. The web page I cited ( has the current info and that is what I was mentioning. By the way, the Meade ad on page 7 of the June 2009 issue of Sky & Telescope also shows the two ETX-LS models (ACF, SC).
Mike here: There are now two models of the new ETX-LS: one is the ACF (Advanced Coma-Free) for $1499, and the other is a SC (Schmidt-Cassegrain) for $1299. Both are 6" f/10 models. Specs are available at
