Subject: ETX 105 Declination stop Sent: Friday, April 25, 2003 02:12:43 From: email@example.com (Bill Arnold) I am considering buying a ETX 105, one I have seen for sale stating the declination stop is missing but this has no effect to the workings of the scope, is this correct or will it cause any problems. thanks.....BIll.Mike here: Well, it won't keep it from working but if you are not careful you could cause some damage, either internally or externally if you drive the telescope past where it would have stopped.
Subject: feedback on an etx 105 uhtc Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2003 10:29:37 From: firstname.lastname@example.org (Alexandre Letessier) hello, and thanks for your last advice on etx 90 and 105. i have decided to purchase the 105 pack (with tripod and autostar) in my local store "nature et decouvertes" (france). it came from U.S with 3 weeks late (due to Irak's war and bad relations between US and frenchies..). therefore, when it came, i was very exciting, and my girlfriend told me i look like a boy with a new toy.... i decided to learn the instructions before using it. but, what a surprise: first, there was a problem with the autostar: no help menu was charged in. secondly, the sp 26mm was awful: the SP26 was damaged during the cook: i explain: when the light treatment like uhtc is done on the oculars, it is warm very hot to make the treatment go for years. there were many little bulles de gaz" on it. and finally, the bag which is given to get the tripod everywhere was damaged. i am very disappointed with this experience and hope the next pack will be ok (i have returned mine). the only thing i could say to defend this non quality product stay on the optic.(to remember, french can't choose between uhtc or not, it is automayically with uhtc.) as i have tried a look with a 32mm kellner, i have observed jupiter and his satellits clearly and brightly. just imagine that i can clearly saw 3 or 4 clouds belts on juputer with an 32 mm kellner in town and in my room,...... just can say that optics seems to be very nice.... it has made me both sorry for this bad product model and impatient to get the new one to spent hours observing the milky way. thanks for all your works on ETX and sorry for my very bad and poor english. i should get lessons to improve it. alexandre LetessierMike here: Thanks for the report. Sorry you've had some problems. For clarification, I don't believe the eyepieces are shipping with the UHTC coating. Keep me posted.
Subject: ETX-105 hard stops Sent: Wednesday, April 2, 2003 9:46:36 From: email@example.com (Marc Delaney) To: firstname.lastname@example.org Hi Richard, I have an ETX-105 and the OTA does go almost down to the base, with about 7mm to 8mm gap where your pix shows 44mm! So I'd say all seems not to be okay. At the other end, the OTA goes just past the vertical position, but stops short before the finder touches the fork. So you better return your scope to the dealer for replacement! With best wishes, Marc (from Barry in South Wales).
