Subject: ETX-105 advice Sent: Monday, February 7, 2005 08:10:03 From: Logic Pardus (logicpardus@hotrmail.com) I am looking to buy my dad a telescope as a retirement gift. He is an astronomy enthusiast but does not have his own telescope. I found the ETX-105 to be the best compromise between quality and price. But from looking at the only review on your web site I was put off. It's hard to believe that the Autostar doesn't work properly. and what's with the UHTC optics? I'm lost. From your extensive knowledge can you advise me on acquiring this model or can you suggest another? My dad is an old man. I don't want to give him a can of worms. Thank you for your kind attention. Best regards, PedroMike here: The ETX-105 is a fine choice as long as it isn't too big or cumbersome for him to manage. UHTC is definitely worth it; effectively adds an 1" of aperture to the light that reaches the eye. As to the Autostar, practice usually solves any problems as does reading the manual, three times.
