I am sorry to ask what is probably a redundant question. Could you tell
me where to go on your site to learn how to connect the DSI when the
computer has only USB, and no serial, ports. Thanks.
Mike here: The DSI uses USB so there shouldn't be any question about connecting that (but see the Helpful Information: Astrophotography page for more on the DSI). I assume you really mean "how does the Autostar connect without a serial port?" See the article "Autostar and USB" on the Helpful Information: Autostar info page. Alternatively, you could have used the search capability on the ETX Site and searched for "USB".

Thank you. What else can I say for such a lot of help to so many of us.

I upgraded my computer to a HP Pavilion and now I can't find the disk to
install autostar suite!!

I don't want to try to install any of the programs I downloaded from
Meade since they are "updates" for the Suite--- but I don't have the
suite installed! Do you know of anywhere I could get the suite? Is
there a download somewhere buried within archives of that I
could use?

I suspect I could purchase from Meade, but there might be another place
where I could download the suite...
Mike here: Have you tried There is a new version there. I haven't installed it so don't know if it requires a previous version to be installed or not.

Thanks for the quick reply, will try what you suggested---will let you
know, just in case this issues surfaces again..

And an update:

Again, Meade comes through with excellent customer service....

I called to buy the autostar suite, I explained what had happened and
that I had lost the original disk.

The customer service rep took my info and explained that I would be
receiving the disk. When I asked what the charge was he said NO charge!

How is that for customer service!

That is the second time I have contacted customer service, first was for
some compression washers for my ds-114 which they sent at no cost, AND
he sent TWO extras at that.....

Meade certainly did not have to send them free, 114 is well out of
warranty and I lost the original autostar disk!! Of course once I get
the new disk and install it, I will find the one I lost....

Mike here: I haven't seen a hard copy manual but you can always print it yourself from the PDF file.

Some parts of Autostar Suite -will- work with the Classic LX200,
such as the StarMap application and the Telescope/ControlPanel it offers.

Some parts will -not- work, such as the Autostar-like "Remote Handbox".

Some parts -may- work, such as some of the Autoguiding features.
I don't have a Classic so i can't test that aspect.

Be sure to register with the Meade 4M program, so that you
can download the latest update to AutostarSuite... each
new update may -add- to the Classic control abilities.

have fun
