I am planning on purchasing a telescope but as a first time buyer, i'm slightly confused as to what the difference is between the Meade ETX 90RA and the ETX 90EC. Can you elaborate please?Mike here: First off, PLEASE read the Email Etiquette item on the ETX Site home page; your email was originally classified as SPAM due to the missing subject line and deleted UNREAD. As to the ETX-90RA vs the ETX-90EC, they are the same telescope tube and optics with different mounts. The RA model is the original ETX that came out in 1996 (and which got "Weasner's Mighty ETX Site" started. The EC model was the 1999 replacement for the RA model and included a fully electronic controllable mount in both axes. The EC model came with a standard handcontroller but the AutoStar was an optional accessory. The AT model is the same as the EC model but the AutoStar and a #884 tripod are now included as standard accessories.
