Subject: ETX 90 RA secondary mirror housing slipping Sent: Monday, October 25, 2010 13:09:27 From: Glen Perry Jr. (gperryjr@mac.com) I have an ETX 90 RA. The shroud around the secondary appears to be slipping to the left. It appears the glue or what ever adhesive used is loosing its integrity. There is about one eighth of an inch crescent of the shroud visible just to the right of the silver dot on the corrector plate. Should I attempt to fix it or can you recommend someone that could do the job? I called Meade and they did not wish to fix it but offered a new OTA at a price that was high enough that I might as well buy a new scope. The person at Mead's customer service suggested that if i didn't wish to by a new OTA, that I remove the secondary cover and replace it with super glue!Mike here: If you want to attempt the repair yourself, see the articles "ETX-90RA Secondary Baffle Fix" and "Re-attaching the Baffle" on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page. If you don't want to try it, Dr. Clay Sherrod may be able to fix it as part of his Supercharge Tune-Up Service (link on the Telescope Tech Tips page).
