iPhone Jupiter and Galilean Moons

iPhone 15 Pro Max

SYNCed observatory clock to WWV time signals.

1821 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.

1825 MST: Viewed Jupiter, 102X and 94X. Three Galilean Moons were visible in the bright sky: Io, Europa, and Ganymede.

1840 MST: The Galilean Moon Callisto was now visible, 94X.

1841 MST: Sunset.

1845 MST: Relaxed on the observatory patio bench.

1900 MST: Back in the observatory. Clouds were rapidly approaching from the south.

Attached the LiDAR Cover on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and mounted the iPhone on the 1.25" 26mm eyepiece using the 3-axis adapter.

1912 MST: Wi-Fi ON.

Used SkySafari 7 Pro on the iPhone to GOTO Asteroid 15 Eunomia, Mag. +10.4. It was not yet visible in the bright twilight sky.

1918 MST: Wi-Fi OFF.

1920 MST: Relaxed again on the bench while waiting for the sky to get darker and to monitor the clouds.

1923 MST: Clouds continued to increase. Jupiter is at the center with the Hyades and Pleiades stars to the right in this handheld iPhone photo taken with the Camera app (Night Mode, 3 seconds, 1X lens). The asteroid was located near Jupiter in the sky.

1930 MST: Back in the observatory.

1940 MST: I managed to view Asteroid 15 Eunomia, 94X. I had planned to image it, but increasing clouds prevented that. Will image it on a future session.

1943 MST: LX600 OFF.
