Posted: 24 October 2025

Wednesday, 22 October 2025, was cloudy. 1846 MST: I was able to briefly view Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), 7x50 binoculars. Coma, but no tail.

Open: Thursday, 23 October 2025, 1807 MST
Temperature: 80°F
Session: 2101
Conditions: Clear

Equipment:
12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
Focal reducer

Camera:
iPhone 15 Pro Max
D850 DSLR

1813 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.

1819 MST: Wi-Fi ON.

Using SkySafari 7 Pro on the iPhone, slewed the 12" telescope to Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon). The comet was visible in the 9x50 finderscope.

Mounted the D850 DSLR at prime focus + focal reducer, focused on the star Arcturus, locked the 12" primary mirror, and slewed back to Comet Lemmon.

1832 MST: StarLock ON.

I began imaging Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon). This is a StarLock autoguided D850 DSLR image of the comet (30 seconds, ISO 3200).

1852 MST: Comet Lemmon was getting too low in the western sky to image, so I used SkySafari on the iPhone to slew the telescope to Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN), high in the southern sky. Took this StarLock autoguided D850 DSLR image of Comet SWAN (60 seconds, ISO 5000).

1906 MST: StarLock OFF, Wi-Fi OFF.

Observed Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN), 102X. Coma only visible, no tail.

1915 MST: I noticed that Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) was easily visible to the naked eye low in the western sky. I stepped outside of the observatory and took this handheld iPhone 15 Pro Max photo (Night Mode, 10 seconds, 1X lens, slightly cropped) showing the comet to the left of Cassiopeia Observatory. The telescope appears to be pointed at Comet Lemmon in the photograph, but it is actually pointed at Comet SWAN.
