Subject: Re: Halley's comet (AS Suite FB 8/25/08) Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2008 21:22:53 From: mhogansr@comcast.net (mhogansr@comcast.net) I'm not sure about the Astronomers Edition, but Halley is in the database of the full version 5, available for download from the Meade site. Keep in mind this does not add it to the Autostar itself as a selectable GOTO object, only as an object in the Starmap display of AS Suite. If you want to add it to the comet database in the Autostar, you can use the Update Autostar function in AS Suite and add it manually by entering the required Two Line Element parameters and then uploading it to the Autostar. Good Luck, Mike Hogan

From: Marc Widdowson (marc@stoics.fsnet.co.uk) Thank you very much. However, I downloaded and installed version 5 from the Meade website, but I still could not find Halley's comet in the database. Am I looking in the wrong place? I went Starmap/Object Selection, selected the Library Comets radio button then scrolled through the list. It is not that easy scrolling through but I do not think I missed Halley. Does it have another name I am not aware of? Thanks. Marc Widdowson
Subject: Halley's comet Sent: Friday, August 22, 2008 22:52:51 From: Marc Widdowson (marc@stoics.fsnet.co.uk) I don't know if this is in your area, but I am surprised Halley's comet is not included as an object in the PC astronomy program that came with my Meade ETX-125PE (Meade Autostar Suite Astronomer's Edition), and I wonder if there is any way to get it in there. Thanks. Marc WiddowsonMike here: The comet is very faint and far away right now so is out of the reach of most small telescopes. That said, it is surprising in a way that it is missing. As to getting it in, I don't use Windows so don't know where you would install the TLE info.

Thank you very much.
Subject: Fix for email labeled AutoStar Suite Version 5 Network Problem dated July 14 Sent: Monday, August 4, 2008 14:58:22 From: Alan Hawkins (alan_hawkins@comcast.net) I ran into this same problem as Mike Hogan and found out that it was Autostar Suite that was holding the port in use. The Autostar Net Scope program actually opens up five consectutive ports starting with the one you specify in the Network Port field. For some reason on program starup, Autostar hold 5405, you can test this by typing in "netstat -ano" in the command line program (dos prompt). This will give you the Process ID number for the program holding on to 5405. You then can open up the task manager to see the name of the program associated with that PID. So when you try to start the default port Net Scope tries to open 5401, 5402, 5403, 5404, and 5405, which gives you the conflict on 5405. The good news is there is an easy fix, Just choose 5400 for your Net Scope port. This will hold 5400, 5401, 5402, 5403, and 5404. You will be able to communicate with the scope via Autostar Suite and Envisage. Alan Hawkins Woodstock, GA Original posting: Subject: AutoStar Suite Version 5 Network Problem Sent: Monday, July 14, 2008 12:02:22 From: mhogansr@comcast.net (mhogansr@comcast.net) I updated to AS Suite v5 from the Meade site and could no longer get the Network Server to work. The program started OK but when I check the 'Listen' box, I get the error "Address is in use". Clicking OK shuts the program down. I went back to the previous version and every thing works normally with exactly the same settings as I used in v5. I'm using a Serial-to-USB adapter, configured for COM 2 and XP Home. Have you or anyone else tried the new version and gotten this function to work? Regards, Mike Hogan
