Subject: re: Encoder hookup info for SkySafari Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2012 09:45:09 From: richard seymour (rseymour@wolfenet.com) Mike, i fear that Sam's "push-to LX200" is a completely home-modified scope, not the standard LX200 that most programs know how to drive. SkyCommander is an add-on set of "digital setting circles" SkyCommander's makers/website is http://www.skyeng.com I'd start there.... good luck --dick
Subject: Encoder hookup info for SkySafari Sent: Friday, August 10, 2012 18:21:30 From: Sam Garula (sam@p1s.com) I recently upgraded from a flip phone to an iphone and was shocked by its capabilities. Then I discovered your SkySafari 3 Pro software and was literally blown away! I still can't believe I can hold such an advanced and capable utility as SkySafari in the palm of my hand. Congratulations on a wonderful piece of software! Anyways, my reason for writing is to ask your advice. Since SkySafari can control a telescope I wanted to ask if you know of an interface-type gadget that I can hook to my Meade LX200 push-to scope. It currently uses 2 encoders and the SkyCommander box for locating objects. The plug that connects the encoders to the SkyCommander box itself is an RJ45. Do you know of any wifi, blue-ray, USB cable or transition box that will accept such a connection so I can use your much more comprehensive SkySafari to locate objects? Thank you for your time and again for a great piece of software. Sam GarulaMike here: Just to clarify, SkySafari is not MY software; it is from Southern Stars. As to the classic LX200, you can control it from SkySafari Pro if you use a serial (SkyWire) or Wi-Fi connection (SkyFi) connection.
