The Dec Setting Circle Scale is not rotating with the OTA, it stays in
the same position if the OTA is raised or lowered.

I wondered if it would be easy to sort out (it doesn't affect the
performance of the scope at all) and removed the four hex-headed bolts
in the black plastic at the rear of the OTA (2 each on the left and
right sides), hoping that the OTA would then slide out of the fork mount
but I couldn't move the OTA.  Not wishing to force it at all (in case I
broke something) I was looking for a service manual to see how to
release the OTA to get at the Dec Setting Circle and see what wants
fixing.

If you know how to disassemble the OTA from the mount, I'd be grateful.

Mike here: You were on the right track to remove the OTA. See the bottom of this page: http://www.weasner.com/etx/90ec_comments.html. However, you may not need to remove the OTA to fix the problem. See the article "DEC Scale modification" on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page. Although that article is not for the ETX-90RA, it may still get you pointed in the right direction.

In searching for a manual (instructions) for the model M (90 RA) Meade
Telescope which my brother gave us, I came upon your website. I was
