Subject: Software reviews Sent: Saturday, December 15, 2012 09:37:57 From: David Birmingham (bao.h53@gmail.com) Pardon my intrusion on your weekend. We met a few years back at a star party in Illinois, IDSSP hosted by the Sangamon Astronomical Society. I did a quick look at your web site at the reviews you have done for iPhone and did not see one on an app I received today from my son and his fiancee called Starmap Pro. Back at the end of October my cell phone provider, Verizon, offered me a free upgrade to an iPhone 4 which I took advantage of and now I am trying to learn how to use it and some of the available apps that are available. Thanks for your time! Dave Birmingham H53Mike here: I still have fond memories of that star party! Yep, no review of that app. If you'll do one, I'll be happy to post it. My most used iOS astronomy app is SkySafari Pro, followed by Observer Pro, Moon Globe, and AstroAid.
And:
I'll need some time to get acclimated on how to use this new app, I just downloaded it this morning.....couldn't wait for Christmas! I am not sure how in depth I am going to use the app and I probably will not use it for telescope control since I have a dedicated computer running Guide which does that. I've been looking for reviews of Starmap Pro but so far what I have found are a couple years old and do not cover the newest version. From what I have seen there are some changes that are not covered. Thanks for the quick reply! Dave Birmingham
