Subject: softwear Sent: Monday, February 18, 2008 18:12:40 From: MARGIE (llerret2@verizon.net) I have had mt Meade telescope for some time. It came with the Meade astrofinder#506. I just got a new P/C with Vista I ma not sure if I can use the old cd to download it on to the new p/c If you can give me some information I would be very grateful. Thank you for your help in this matter. MargieMike here: Not having either Vista or the Astrofinder software I can't say for certain but there have been issues with some of Meade's older software and Vista. Also, since the #506 cable is a RS-232 serial cable you will need either a RS-232 serial port on your computer or a USB-serial adapter. Not all adapters work with the AutoStar so you might want to look through the article "AutoStar and USB" on the Helpful Information: AutoStar Info page. I use a Keyspan USB-serial adapter on my Macs and it works fine with the AutoStar.
