Subject: old etx question... Sent: Monday, April 25, 2005 17:51:53 From: jc9658@optonline.net (jc9658@optonline.net) I am going to purchase an etx model from '98 or '99. The specs are the ones that the etx 90s made today have. The unit only has a motorized base and little "legs" for a tripod (not a full extended tripod) I was wondering if this was autostar compatable? I'm getting the item in excellent condition for $150... Regards, Joe CavalieriMike here: The original ETX (now known as the ETX-90RA) is not Autostar compatible.
And:
I'm guessing the R.A. and Declination are built into the unit....Is there an ac adapter available?Mike here: That model has only a RA drive. You can add a Declination drive: see the Accessory Reviews: Miscellaneous page for the JM MotoDec. There is no commercial AC adapter but you can make one; see article "Alternative Power Supply" on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page.
Subject: ETX-90 OTA in an ETX-70 AT mount? Sent: Saturday, April 9, 2005 04:31:59 From: John Chappell (jorion2@earthlink.net) Do you know if an old ETX-90 OTA will fit in an ETX-70AT mount? I'm thinking of ordering a factory refurbished ETX-70AT to put my old ETX-90 OTA in, so I can use the 70's mount, Autostar controller, field tripod & EP's. Not to mention having the 70 as a wide-field back up scope. WIll the 90 OTA fit in the 70 mount????? Many thanks in advance, John CMike here: See the article "Putting ETX-90 on ETX-70 forks" on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page.
