Subject: ETX:105 Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2005 14:46:08 From: Hedwig10@aol.com (Hedwig10@aol.com) This is Joseph Guy from Ireland...remember. Well, anyway, I have just managed to get an etx 105 for christmas and wasn't expecting it. So far, I have seen: M42 Mars Venus & The pleides. Autostar is simple enough to use, but i'm still getting to learn more as to how to use it. Aligning is easy. I just think its brilliant. I can't wait to see Jupiter soon and also the andromeda galaxy
Subject: ETX 105PE with the #1244 electronic focuser Sent: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 06:10:32 From: peter kaye (piquet105@yahoo.co.uk) I recently purchased an ETX 105PE and also the LPI. I find manually focussing the scope when using the LPI to be a real pain and so was keen to add the #1244 focuser that the Meade manual lists as an accessory. However on speaking to my telescope supplier I was advised that the focuser will not work on the ETX105. So my question is who's right, Meade or the dealer and if the focuser is indeed not suitable, what other alternatives are there? Thanks for your gem of a website.Mike here: Some may not work. This has been a recent topic of discussion on the ETX-105 feedback pages. If you get one that doesn't work, see the article "#1244 Electric Focuser Mod/Info for ETX-105" on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I read the article - can't say I'm any the less confused but them I'm a fairly recent arrival in Meade's parallel universe!! So to hell with it, I ordered one anyway - modifying it might prove to be a nice little DIY project for the holiday period! Thanks once again for the assistance, Regards, Peter
