Subject: VPC and the Mac Date: 2/12/04, 17:57 From: coll3957@bellsouth.net I re-installed the XP software and still never was asked for the installation code. This leads me to think that I am doing it wrong. The "pop-up" bubble didn't appear telling me I had 30 days left on the installation.I think(?) that's encouraging.I'm hoping the LPI Suite will arrive tomorrow so I can try installing that.At least I have your instructions for that. This is my last try before going back to the safety of Bill Gates.LOLMike here: Does XP show in the list of virtual machines? Can you start up from it?
Subject: VPC and the Mac Date: 2/11/04, 13:49 From: coll3957@bellsouth.net I hate to be a PITA but I am having problems installing XP Pro on VPC.I think I have VPC installed ok but when I tried to install XP Pro seemed to be installing but I get a pop-up baloon telling me I have 29days left on XP Pro. I was not asked for the installation code so I don't believe I have XP installed.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ordered LPI Suite yesterday. Thanks,BillMike here: Are you installing from a VPC OS Pack or a regular MS WindowsXP set of CD-ROMs? Not that I can help in either case; I suggest contacting Microsoft VirtualPC support. I used an OS Pack when I upgraded from Windows98 to Windows2000.
And:
I installed VPC for Mac and I am trying to install XP Pro from a CD I got from a desktop. I tried Microsoft's knowledge pack but it didn't address the problem.I'll keep trying.Mike here: I presume you have the WindowsXP serial number.
And:
Yes, I have the installation code.I was never asked for it.That's why I'm not sure that XP Pro is installed from my CD. The VPC documentation doesn't say anything about a "trial" version of Windows but I suspect that's what I've got. I'll keep looking. Bill
Subject: Planetarium Software Date: 2/8/04, 03:59 From: Ros Dickens (ros@dickenslr.freeserve.co.uk) I use TheSky (Student Edition) and am about to upgrade to TheSky II in order to use the software to control the telsecope (ETX125EC). Before I do so, I wonder if any other ETX users have experience they can share on using TheSky software or alternative packages that they have found to be better in some way? Best Regards, Les DickensMike here: There are several packages that control the Autostar. You can read about some on the Accessory Reviews - Software page and on the Autostar Information page.
