Subject: AC adapter, 12VDC cord for DSX-90 Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2006 04:03:51 From: Difflimited@aol.com (Difflimited@aol.com) Thanks for maintaining your ETX website. I recently got a DSX-90 and have found it really uses up my rechargeable batteries fast. I can't find information on the proper accessories : AC adapter and/or 12V DC cord. It would have been nice to have an input on the motor base, but my unit has a 9V type plug on the battery compartment. I googled your site but didn't locate any information to identify the proper items. Can you help? Thanks in advance, Peter GMike here: See the ETX-70 tips on external power supplies on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page as the same connector is used on the ETX-60/70/80 models.

Subject: DSX-90 newbie questions Sent: Sunday, January 1, 2006 11:16:06 From: Christopher Laibinis (claibinis@yahoo.com) I have purchased a DSX-90 scope as a Christmas present for my children. I have a few questions that maybe you could answer or point me to the right information. I have also purchased the Meade High Power Accessory Kit http://shopping.discovery.com/product-59589.html as a recommendation by Meade customer support. (They claimed that it contained the 4000 series eyepieces, and would be the same as if I purchased each 4000 item seperatly only with a sacings, which I found out is not true). The eyepieces are made in China, and I have read somewhere that the better optics come from Japan. The images seem to be unclear with both the barlow and the eyepiece, and I am not sure whether it is the eyepieces, or just the capabilities of this smaller scope. (I was able to see the Orion Nebula, and Saturn clearly, however the 26mm Super Plssl eyepiece that came with the scope provided superior resolution, with less magnification). The lenses in the kit are standard Plssl. I was thinking about returning these items, and getting either a 6.7 UWA, 4.7UWA or both. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris LaibinisMike here: Keep in mind that telescopes have a theoretical maximum magnification based upon the diameter of the aperture (mirror or lens). As you approach that value the image begins to get fuzzy and fainter. Bright objects like the Moon and Jupiter will suffer less affects. See the FAQ page for how to determine magnification and the max value.
