Subject: Astroplanner hook up Sent: Thursday, June 20, 2002 14:35:48 From: Kenneth.Towne@saint-gobain.com I bought the shareware version of Astroplanner (I am one of the capitalists!) and would like to drive my ETX-125 with it. I have the 505 cable which I hooked up to it last night and the program comes back with "No Telescope connected". Can you offer any suggestions? The cable works OK with my AS1 to update. Thanks, Ken TowneMike here: Have you contacted the author? Are you using the Classic or OS X version? Does your Mac have USB or the older style serial ports? How are you connecting to the USB or serial port? Do you have fax software or perhaps even the Palm HotSync software installed? They can interfere with serial port communications. Have you selected the right port and type of controller in AstroPlanner?

Subject: Starry Night Bundle for ETX-70AT Sent: Tuesday, June 4, 2002 18:03:44 From: ed.fides.carlos@comcast.net (Carlos Family) I keep forgeting to tell you - I installed the bundled version of StarryNight and started using it to do my star mapping. The software kept on freezing my machine and I always had to do a cold boot. I contacted StarryNight.com support via e-mail to inquire about any updates for the software. They came back to me right away saying that the software is nolonger supported but provided me with a download of the StarryNight backyard version with a license. I've been using since then. I've installed it on my notebook and use it as a reference whenever I go out and observe. Helps me confirm the things that I see. For example, M13 which I saw back in mid May was a GC that had five stars in close proximity. Three stars on the right and one star on the left (reversed of course). I went to the software and there it was exactly as I see it on the eyepiece. In anycase I thought others might want to know that they do have an upgrade option for the bundled software. Thanks Ed
