Subject: 105EC Electric Focuser Sent: Monday, June 30, 2003 06:14:57 From: Philippe.Lefebvre@perce-neige.org (Lefebvre, Philippe) I live in France, and last week I went to my retailer in order to purchase an electric focuser for my ETX 105. We tried the 1244 model and it appeared not to work correctly. Where can I find the right focuser, which model is the right one for my ETX 105 ?Mike here: What do you mean by "not work properly"? There were some early models that had problems with the -105. However, the 1244 is supposed to work with the ETX-90 and -105.
And:
The gear in the box did not meet the gear on the focuser rod, and it was off by a good bit (perhaps 0,5 milimeters).Mike here: Odd. Perhaps it was an older model 1244.
Subject: Slow motion control of the ETX does not work Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2003 08:25:15 From: siegfried.gonzi@stud.uni-graz.at (Siegfried Gonzi) I have a Meade ETX 105/UHTC. Since a month or so the slow motion control of the rectaszension drive does not work properly; the four levels of tracking speed do not take any effect (the slow motion control of the declination works, though) and I always end up with the fastest motion speed of the four possible levels. This makes the ETX 105 useless. Is there somewhere a reset button? Regards, Siegfried GonziMike here: There is no reset button for the standard controller, which it sounds like you are using. Do you have the Autostar to use?
And:
I use the simple standard controller. I tried to lower the motion speed (as described in the manual) but the four speeds of the hand controller for the rectaszension remain the same (all four exhibit the highest one). I have ordered a Baader BP 60 in order to use the optical tube in combination with a simple alt azimuth mount. I am planing to sell the wedge of the ETX 105; but in doing so I want to make sure that things work properly.Mike here: Be certain you are not overtightening the axis lock. Also, you might try to get an Autostar if your telescope is out of warranty and try that.
Subject: ETX 105 Declination stops Sent: Sunday, June 8, 2003 12:04:56 From: bill.arnold@ntlworld.com (Bill Arnold) I have a Meade ETX 105 which I purchased as a returned item as the declination stop was missing. My problem is the OTA will only go to about 72 degrees and it hits some kind on internal stop at the other end it strikes the base , I assume this is because the stop is missing but why will it not go to 90 degrees position. excellent site regards.....Bill.Mike here: There were some other recent reports of DEC hard stop problems (March ETX-105EC Feedback in the Feedback Archives). You might look through that for some ideas.
