Subject: Computer connection to ETX125 PE Sent: Friday, September 8, 2006 10:37:17 From: jurbanchuk@comcast.net (jurbanchuk@comcast.net) Can you advise me on what cables I need to connect my Meade ETX 125PE to my laptop (Sony Vaio running Windows) in order to use the astronomer control panel feature of Starry Nights or other computer control programs? I am having a devil of a time getting through to Meade Customer Service and can't seem to find the answer in the user manual. Great site! Many thanks! John M. UrbanchukMike here: You need a #505 serial cable to connect the Autostar handset to a RS-232 serial port. You can easily make one (see the Helpful Information: AutoStar Info page). If your computer has USB but no RS-232 port then you will need a USB-serial adapter (see the article "AutoStar and USB" on the AutoStar Info page).
