Subject: Connecting ext105 to MacBook Pro laptop (OS 10.7.5) with Starry Night Pro (6.4.3) Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2013 08:17:47 From: Alexander Lindsay (alexlindsay1@me.com) I have an EXT105 and want to connect it to a MacBook Pro (10.7.5) on which I have the Starry Night Pro (6.4.3) software... Firstly to update the software on the Autostar (497) and then more excitingly to control the telescope through Starry Night Pro. I bought the Meade 505 AstroFinder software / cable set, but it seems the EXT105 is really much more Windows / PC friendly! Is there a simple / elegant solution? Would be great maybe to use Bluetooth. Alex Lindsay. ----- From: Alexander Lindsay alexlindsay1@me.com Pitcorthie House Colinsburgh Leven Fife, KY9 1JY United KingdomMike here: For some tips see the Helpful Information: Astronomy & Intel Macs page. You can use Mac OS X software to control your telescope, including Starry Night. I currently use SkySafari Pro; see my review on the Accessory Reviews: Software page. You will need a USB-serial adapter and the #505 serial cable. Not all adapters work reliably with the AutoStar; I recommend Keyspan. Alternatively, you can use a SkyFi Wi-Fi adapter; works great with SkySafari (and others) on the Mac and iOS devices.
