Subject: Help me with my DS114 Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 2010 15:48:02 From: KAREN L MYERS (myers6323@sbcglobal.net) Just found your site 2day, cool! Is it possible to get parts somewhere for my Meade DS114ATS? I need the motor mount for the azimuth motor, I found the part numbers, on the parts but got lost from there. All I can find on the Internet is accessories... other than that, I love the telescope and the Autostar. Thanx, BobMike here: Try Telescope Warehouse (link on the Astronomy Links page).
And:
Thanx 4 your timely reply. I emailed telescope Warehouse and am waiting for a reply. I bought used and caps were kept on and it has sharp, clear focus. If anything, I can use as is, not a bad deal for $50. Thanx Again, I'll be reading and watching the sky... Bob Johnson Columbus, Ohio
Subject: DS2114 and Autostar 494 to PC connections. Sent: Friday, July 16, 2010 17:06:55 From: Erwin Heins (aerwinh@yahoo.com) I have found much good information on your info site but I can't find a diagram showing how to connect my pc to my DS2114 and the Autostar 494. I know it can be done because I've read that it can be done. I know I need the #506 cable. Isee the connections for the EX series and the LG series but not the DS2000 series. Could you help me? Thanks, Erwin HeinsMike here: If there is no RS-232 serial port on your DS telescope, then you will have to use a #497 AutoStar and a #505 serial cable. And, if your computer has only USB, then you will also need a USB-serial adapter. However, not all work reliably with the AutoStar. See the article "AutoStar and USB" on the Helpful Information: AutoStar Info page. I recommend Keyspan adapters.
