Subject: Hi Mike Sent: Saturday, November 26, 2011 21:22:59 From: Ronnie Parsley (shroudedlegion@gmail.com) I have a question about the Meade ETX-90RA series. Although this series of scopes is pretty old, it still seems like a solid scope even today. Although I highly doubt you still use your ETX-90RA, would you recommend this product to someone? I found one online for under $100 USD. I'm not an expert astronomer by no means...I'm quite the opposite. I bought my 6 year old daughter a cheap $20 scope thinking it'd produce excellent results...boy was I wrong! You get what you pay for...I had no clue that I was buying a cheap TOY. So back to my question... Is the ETX-90RA a product you'd recommend? I am in a bit of a pickle. I can't afford a $1,000+ scope at the moment but I don't want to sacrifice quality either. Like I said, the ETX-90RA although definitely not a new, top of the line model, still seems like a good bang for the buck. Thoughts/comments/suggestions are appreciated! By the way, your ETX site is killer. Keep up the great work. :)Mike here: Actually I do still use my ETX-90RA. It was mentioned on my 23 November 2011 report on my Cassiopeia Observatory web site. For a grab-n-go, quick set up, telescope, it is great. Superb optics. Of course, you do need to know your way around the night sky to get the most out of it. But you can easily learn that. For more on the ETX-90RA, see my comments on the Helpful Information: Buyer/New User Tips page on the ETX Site.
