Posted: 13 April 2024

On Sunday, 7 April, Seymour held its day-long Eclipse Festival.

Here is January Rutherford of the City of Seymour government introducing the first speaker, Mark "The Stargeezer" Williams.

The next speaker was Bailee Wolfee, who is working on her Astronomy PhD.

I presented the Keynote talk and covered "Seymour and Astronomy History", "Viewing the Total Solar Eclipse", and "Solar Eclipse Photography". In the "history" section, I covered my background. And yes, there was a commercial for my autobiography. I also discussed International Dark Sky Week, 2-8 April 2024, and the affects of Light Pollution on night sky viewing as well as possible impacts of lights coming on during the eclipse, hampering the view of the Solar Corona.

After my talk I sold and signed some copies of Finding my Way to the Stars.

Vendor booths were set up outside. Only some of the booths are visible in the photos. Mark Williams set up his "Sun Funnel" telescope. The Sun even made a brief appearance through the clouds.

I purchased some Eclipse souvenirs. (The last shirt in Seymour High School colors was purchased from Amazon.)

Actually, the yellow shirt was a gift from Seymour schools classmate Jerry Long and his wife. Thanks, Jerry!

Cloudy skies continued after sunset on Sunday.
