Sunday, 19 April 2026, I attended a fascinating talk at the Oracle Historical Society about the discovery of a very large meteorite field in northern Arizona. I did not win a meteorite during the raffle, but I know the person who did.

Sunday night was cloudy.

Monday evening, 20 April, I attended the final Pinal County sponsored International Dark Sky Week 2026 event. It was held in Oracle under a partly cloudy sky and was one of several County sponsored events.

Wednesday, 22 April, 1 hour and 25 minutes after sunset, there was a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The launch trajectory was low as seen from Oracle, but was still a nice view as it passed below the constellation of Orion low in the western sky. The first iPhone 15 Pro Max photo below is a wide angle view (1X) showing the bright star Sirius at the left, Orion near the center, then Taurus, the Pleiades, and Venus at the right. The next two photos were taken at the 2X camera lens setting. All photos taken with the Camera app (Night Mode, 3 seconds).
